２月に書いたストーンズのライブがＷＯＷＯＷでＯＡされます。素材は新たにリマスターされたもので、字幕は日本コロムビア版のもの。僕が作ったバージョンの字幕です。

ミック・ジャガーはブライアン・ジョーンズの死を悼みシェリーの詩を朗読しました。

僕は２２歳の時、中学時代の友達を亡くしました。僕は年末の生まれで、その日は僕の誕生日でした。中学卒業以来、初めての同窓会(兼忘年会)をやろうという事になって、その幹事をやったのが彼でした。彼の父親はベトナムで戦死したアメリカ兵。母親が日本人のハーフでした。彼は父親に会った事がなかったか、あっても記憶にはなかったでしょう。英語は話せず、当然、僕達は日本語で話しました。教室の両端にいて、目で会話するような友達でした。

その彼が幹事をした同窓会は無事行なわれ、無事終わったそうです。無事終わった後、徒歩で帰宅していた面々が激突音を聞きました。彼が乗ったバイクが電柱に激突した音でした。その電柱は僕の家の横のもの。彼はまさに僕の家の前、僕の部屋の下で死にました。僕の２２歳の誕生日に。

この日、僕は内定をくれた会社でアルバイトをしていて、その同窓会には出られませんでした。12月の初めに｢次にやる時は必ず行くよ｣｢本当に久しぶりに会いたいね｣と話したのが、彼との最後でした。

彼の事故を聞かされた時、僕の頭からは“Dirge Without Music”(音楽のない葬送曲)というエドナ・ヴィンセント・ミレイの詩がずっと離れませんでした。悔しくて悲しくて、涙が止まりませんでした。

ミックが朗読している詩の字幕を作っている時も、僕の頭の中にはエドナの詩がありました。
